Organized Tips & Ideas

Oh Baby

Whether you’re a first-time parent, growing your family, or moving into a new home starting from scratch, prepping for a baby can be overwhelming and exciting! We compiled a list of all the organizational hacks we found helpful and easy to maintain.

Layout

Setting up a nursery with maximum functionality can be difficult but not impossible. We recommend beginning with assessing the room. Figuring out the layout will help establish the overall feel and flow of the room. Consider starting with where the crib should go, this will help guide you on where to place the changing table, any other dressers or tables, and a rocking chair.

Closet

We recommend moving onto the closet next. This is where the majority of baby items will live. Finding a closet setup that can be a long-term solution can be tricky. Our favorite product for scenarios like this is our freedomRail® closet system. It allows you to adjust as your kiddos grow!

Storage

Bins and baskets are about to become your best friend. While all those tiny little socks, mittens, burp cloths, wash clothes, and all other itty bitty things are cute to ooh and ahh over, they are a challenge to store. Sorting these items inside bins and baskets is the best way to keep them organized and easily accessible.

Bonus tip: Consider keeping a to-go bin stocked with diapers, baby wipes, diaper cream, burp cloths, and more! If you catch yourself running to the nursery every time for a diaper change or burp cloth, this can help to reduce the extra trips and have an easy grab-and-go bin to take with you to another area of the home!

Clothes

Let’s talk clothes. There are endless ways how to organize clothing. If you enjoy keeping clothing sets together, getting wear set hangers with top and bottom is a great solution. If buying hangers you’ll have for a short time doesn’t interest you, clothes pins are a great alternative to keep sets together.

Another great hack is organizing clothes with sizing dividers. Much like any store you go to, it’s easy to spot the difference from a 3-month onesie to a 9-month onesie based on the size divider or size marked on the hanger. Incorporate this at home to help find clothing easier.
